When Mac OS is unresponsive

For the past couple of weeks I’ve been grappling with my Mac just hanging for 5-10 seconds.

Randomly.

My initial thinking was that it was RAM related, so I quit a bunch of apps.

Then it seemed to be Firefox (I’m running the (Developer Edition)[https://www.mozilla.org/en-GB/firefox/developer/] which has experimental updates) triggering it. I would get a blank rendered output or it wouldn’t launch properly so I’ve edited the profile, disabled plugins, re-installed, etc.

One suggestion for the blank rendering was a virus -http://www.wintips.org/how-to-fix-firefox-black-page-problem/

Other suggestions https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/957508

The Console App did show an odd message “IMKClient stall detected” which led to this post and this and this fix

The one of the System Preferences would not load (http://apple.stackexchange.com/questions/52001/the-system-preference-panes-will-not-load)

And then Apple releases a security update that seems to address the issue…
